The Paarl police need the public’s help to provide information on the murder of 29-year-old Ismael Onverwaght who was fatally stabbed near the Hugenote Train Station in August last year.
Police spokesperson, Captain Louise du Plessis, recalls that Onverwaght was found with stab wounds on 21 August after he and a friend took a stroll while listening to his boom box earlier that day.
The pair of friends were then approached by a suspect near the Hugenote Train Station at about 16:15 that Sunday.
“The suspect stole the deceased’s ‘boom box’ sound system after stabbing the victim multiple times,” Du Plessis says.
Anyone with information relating to the murder of Onverwaght or the theft of a boom box can contact the investigating officer, Constable Griffet Brown on 021 807 4038 or 021 807 4141.
