Applications to join the Wellington Junior Town Council (JTC) next year are open to learners who are interested and who are currently in Grade 9.
The applications are open to all learners who attend any high school in Wellington.
To apply, learners can email their CV to wellington7655@gmail.com or contact a junior councillor at their school before 20 August.
The current Executive Committee and Committee Leaders of Wellington Junior Town Council for 2021/2022 are in Grade 10. These learners are acquiring leadership and problem solving skills through leading their fellow councillors in cultivating their community.
The objectives of the council are to foster mutual understanding and an appreciation between schools in and around Wellington.
The council consists of committees with specific portfolios.
The leaders of the committees organise and coordinate activities with regard to the portfolios that they hold.
The different committees are also given the chance to work together regularly on projects, while combining their strengths and efforts.
