There are only two weeks left before the online admissions for the 2024 school year close on 14 April.
“With parents applying for more than one school for their children, the total number of individual applications to schools received thus far (by 30 March) is 298 530,” says Western Cape MEC for education David Maynier.
According to Maynier it is important that parents apply before the deadline. This will help the department to plan more effectively for placement of learners.
“Parents who experience technical problems are able to log a query using the “contact us” option at the top of the admissions page, and we will assist parents with technical issues to resolve each and every problem as soon as possible. Our technical team worked long hours throughout weekends and the public holiday to follow up on any outstanding queries.
We have also launched our pop-up stalls to assist parents in person across the province, with schools and malls hosting our officials to capture applications for parents who do not have access to the internet.”
Pop-up application sites will be set up at a few schools in the Paarl, Wellington and surrounding areas and will be open between 09:00 and 15:00. Here parents and guardians will receive assistance. This includes Paulus Joubert Primary School (8 April), Hillcrest Primary (8 April), Imboniselo Primary (8 April), U-Save Mbekweni (8-9 April).
The necessary documents to support learners’ application forms are: the last official school report card, ID, birth certificate, passport of the learner or a study permit (foreign learners), proof of application (study permit) or a police affidavit (if the previously mentioned documents are not available), immunisation card (primary school learners), proof of residence (rates account, lease agreement, an affidavit confirming residence).
