The Paarl Rugby Code would like to express their shock and unhappiness over the alienation of a section of the Boy Louw Sports grounds for proposed development that has nothing to do with sport. Paarl already has too few sport facilities to get rid of existing available sports facilities.
With this proposed development, the Drakenstein Municipality would rather keep children away from sport, instead of using all existing facilities to keep children in sport and to encourage them to reach their full potential.
The DM knows all to well that the sports facility has been used over the years to develop football and rugby players and is curious that only the section where these sports are practised is earmarked for alienation. The decision is totally unacceptable and is rejected with disdain by rugby and we sincerely hope that the DM re-consider this proposal in the interest of sport and development of young players.
We hope that the municipality will consider this letter as a total rejection of any plans for development at the Boy Louw Facilities as the proposed development has nothing to do with sports or the uplifting of the sporting community.
