In 2012 the Clothing Bank, a non profit organisation, opened its doors in Paarl to help unemployed women, self-motivated women in the Winelands to generate an income at take charge of their future.
The Clothing Bank runs a two-year programme that teaches women to run a small business. After two weeks of training they start trading by buying clothes to resell. As part of the programme they teach the women how to run a business and be able to earn money at the same time. The women receive training in financial literacy, micro enterprise development, life skills, computer skills, sales and other industry specific areas.
On Wednesday 20 April The Clothing Bank will have an Open Day for those interested to apply to be part of the programme. If you meet the following criteria you are welcome to attend the open day:
• Do you have the desire to acquire new skills to better provide for yourself?
• Are you willing to learn, practice and do new things?
• Does buying and selling products excite you?
• Can you see yourself going door to door in your community, setting up a stand or selling at a market?
• Are you someone that sees income generating opportunities and uses creative ways to generate income?
• Are you already a trader but lack financial discipline and order?
• Are you willing to commit to 2 years of Enterprise development training, mentoring, coaching and volunteering to work towards establishing your own Trading Platform?
• Can you commit to 2 – 3 days from 9 – 13:30 weekly?
• Are you unemployed and a mother with children under 18?
If you tick yes to all the above, you can attend the open day on 20 April between 09:00 and 13:00 at Bergrivier Business Park, Driebergen Street, Daljosafat.
Documents required (bring with): ID, highest school certificate, CV, children’s birth certificate and proof of address
