In a broadcast video the Executive Mayor of the Cape Winelands District Elma von Schlicht reminds local residents to get counted in the 2022 census in a plea of importance.

“I wish to remind you that the closing date for you to take part in the census has been extended to 14 May 2022,” she announced this week.

“Many of you receiving this video may think that taking part in this census is not important. However, this is not true. Government uses the information from the census to help them decide how much money to allocate to a specific province, a district or a town.

“I cannot stress the importance of your participation in this census enough.”

Residents are strongly urged to make use of the options given to do so by completing the form online from a cellphone or any other device by visiting getcounted.statssa.gov.za

Alternatively, people can make an appointment by phoning 0800 110 248 so that a field worker can visit you at home.

“Be part of the plan. Make sure that you and your family get counted,” Von Schlicht signed off.
