A successful operation in Mbekweni last week led to two arrests of alleged drug dealers. Mbekweni police spokesperson WO Nceba Vanqa said several drug premises were searched last Thursday, and 100 mandrax tablets and R19 000 cash were seized in one incident. A 42-year-old Nigerian appeared in the Paarl Magistrates’ Court on Monday for the possession of illegal substances. This followed the appearance of a South African woman (31) from Philippi East in the Paarl Magistrates’ Court last Friday. “She was arrested after being found in possession of tik in another search,” Vanqa said. “Police seized dagga and 60 bankies of tik to the value of R450 000 and a cash amount of R8 473.”
