Posisie insake water: Waterbeperkings al dan nie, is die vraag wat in die droë somermaande in die Wes-Kaap gereeld gestel word. Met die opstel hiervan was daar nog nie sprake van waterbeperkings in die Paarl nie. Daar is wel verklaar dat die Paarl sal wag om te sien hoe Kaapstad in hierdie opsig gaan optree.
Biggest threat to export grapes: Botrytis is the greatest single cause for the deterioration of export grapes. Although the small amount of infection which is visible in the early stages can be sorted out in the pack-sheds and to a lesser extent stopped in the port of export, much of the infection only becomes apparent on the overseas market. Spraying or dusting with fungicides available up to now has been more of a comfort than a help.

Paarl’s oldest cafe closes: The oldest cafe in Paarl is to be closed. It is the Paarl Cafe, belonging to Mr Danie Meyer, and is situated in the Arcade, Lady Grey Street. It has been run by Mr Meyer for the past 24 years and was previously owned by his father, the late Mr Philip Meyer, a well-known Paarlite who played rugby for Paarl for many years.

Woman loses 101 lb weight: A Paarl woman, Mrs. Sanie Nel, of Denneburg, has lost 101 lb. in six months. She managed this terrific feat by attending treatments at the Slenderline Slimming Salon, owned by Mrs. Jolene Day.
