Extention of the Courtrai suburb: The Courtrai suburb in Suider Paarl is to be extended and the new area to be built up, will be known as Courtrai Extention no. 2. Forty-eight plots are available and the township is to be developed by the Caprop organization of Paarl. Louvre and Chapelle Streets in the existing Courtrai suburb will be extended into the new township, where new streets will also be built.

48 Years in film: Mr Reginald van Eyssen of Main Street is celebrating 48 years in the film industry. He started off as an usher and film runner at the Old Pavilion Cinema in Claremont. He used to carry films from the Pavilion to the Premier Cinema at Rondebosch. Both these cinemas are no longer in existence. The Protea came in the place of Pavilion while the well-known Cinerama Cinema is where the old Premier Bioscope used to be. In those days of the old cinemas, only trams ran.

Bought land at high prices: No township developer would be allowed to change the unique character of Paarl, it has been stated.

To which was added: Paarl was against speculative township development by developers who had bought land here at very high prices and had not yet been able to develop this land.
