Last week this time I was having a normal afternoon thinking I didn’t need help from others as I could do many things on my own (and if in need, I had friends or neighbours).

However, two hours later, I stared death in the eyes when my tractor did a backflip on me. And pinned me down so that I was rendered completely broken and helpless.

Luckily my wife found me in the mud and contacted our wonderful neighbours who immediately came to help. But this time friends and neighbours were not enough. I needed the full artillery.

Until today I am not sure who was here and who organised what, but I just want to thank everyone at the Drakenstein Farm Watch (DFW) who responded.

Today I am back home with my wife and kids, and it is all because of a joint effort.

I was just again reminded of the importance of a unit such as the DFW and how important it is to put differences, politics and pride aside to help, love and serve one another.

I want to thank all my friends and neighbours, but especially the people of DFW for their unwavering assistance during the ordeal. I know God’s fingerprints are over this.
