Strawberry fields forever!

Strawberry season is in full bloom but not as rosy as previous years. Local strawberry farmer Deonette Bourbon-Leftley said that due to the abnormally wet winter, strawberry and other fruit farmers have suffered huge losses. She said she herself lost hectares of strawberry fields on the banks of the Berg River when the river flooded, twice this year. She, however, said she is doing her best to keep the public’s strawberry appetite satisfied. Here she is with some of her delicious products at the RooiRok farmstall in Cecilia Street, Paarl.Foto:
