The South African Table Tennis Championships took place in Cape Town recently, and it was the Cape Winelands table-tennis team’s first participation in the National Championships post Covid.
Cape Winelands Table Tennis held their trails earlier this year at New Orleans Secondary School in Paarl where their regional team was selected. The trails were attended by close to 150 junior table players from Paarl, Kuils River, Stellenbosch, Worcester, Robertson and surrounding areas.
At the SA Champs Cape Winelands won silver for the u-11 boys and bronze for the senior women.
The achievements, especially of the u-11 Boys, is a key indicator for the team of the huge effort invested in grassroots development taking place within the clubs and school structures among our junior players.
Cape Winelands Table Tennis also achieved a ranking of six out of 19 teams for the overall medal team event.
The club wished to thank all players, coaches, managers, technical officials and stakeholders alike for all their unwavering commitment and support, particularly for the sport.
