The Drakenstein Municipality last week proudly announced that they had achieved another clean audit – this is the municipality’s fifth clean audit in a row.

According to the municipality the recent clean audit opinion received from the Auditor General of South Africa is for the 2022-’23 financial year. This is also Drakenstein’s ninth clean audit and 16th unqualified audit opinion.

Conrad Poole, Executive Mayor of the Drakenstein Municipality, is thrilled by the news. He says this is a great achievement and a strong indication that “Team Drakenstein” are keeping their eye on the ball.

“Our ongoing commitment to uncompromising fiscal discipline, clean governance and responsible financial management is clearly paying off. I would like to thank and congratulate the entire management team on this remarkable accomplishment, with a special word of thanks to Dr Johan Leibbrandt, the City Manager, Bradley Brown, our Chief Financial Officer, and his team,” says Poole.

The Auditor General further commended Drakenstein in her final report for the 2022-’23 financial year for maintaining a financially unqualified administration with no material findings on predetermined objectives, and a compliance audit outcome for five consecutive years.
