In celebration of National Youth Day, Radio KC 107.7 organised an enlightening open day for youth across Drakenstein keen on careers in media. The event, where 22 young people had an opportunity to explore various aspects of community radio, including presenting, social media and production, sowing seeds of potential careers, was held in partnership with the Curro private school. Participants also took a moment to reflect on the courage and sacrifices exhibited by the youth of 1976 and subsequent years who fought for freedom, and who inspired the establishment of the community radio station in Paarl in 1996. The young individuals attending the open day also engaged in candid discussions about the challenges they faced as well as their emotions in relation to their community. Furthermore, they deliberated on their intentions to participate in the elections of 2024.Photo: Supplied
