“THE league title is still open to anyone. The difference between us and the leading team is only four points, and remember, we are still going to play against them twice.”
Those were the words of Sinenkani FC head coach, Phikolomzi “Rhee” Noqazo, after their 0-0 draw against Mighty Eagles FC.
Noqazo said that drawing away is not a bad result, and they are going to turn their fortunes around by next year when the second round of the ABC Motsepe League resumes. Sinenkani FC is currently sitting in second position with 14 points, while in first position are their Bizana rivals, FC Ravens, with 18 points.
So far, FC Ravens have won all 6 of their games, while Sinenkani FC has won four and drawn twice—against FC Siyanda and recently against Mighty Eagles FC.
Noqazo said the league is not yet over, and they still have a chance of fulfilling their mandate as Sinenkani FC to take the team to the national playoffs. In order for Sinenkani FC to keep their hopes alive, they need to beat FC Ravens in January 2025.
All eyes are now looking forward to the Bizana rivals’ derby on January 25, 2025, at Mafumbatha Stadium.
“We still have one game left in the first round, and we will play against FC Ravens, who are sitting in first position. It’s still okay; we also have chances for the league, so it’s not over, and anything can happen in the second leg of the season.
“It’s still in our hands if we want this league or not,” said coach Noqazo.
