NOLITHA Mhlomi said that she was happy with her performance in her first match for the 2025 Hollywoodbets Women’s Super League.
Mhlomi officiated the university derby between University of Johannesburg (UJ) Ladies’ FC and newly promoted Western Cape University Ladies’ FC.
The match ended 1-0 in favour of UJ Ladies’ FC and was broadcast live on SABC 1.
The match officials were as follows:
Referee: Jean Ndebele from KwaZulu-Natal
Assistant Referee: Nokubonga Dlamini from KwaZulu-Natal
Assistant Referee: Nolitha Mhlomi from Eastern Cape
Fourth Official: Kwandile Somtsai from Gauteng
Speaking to Mthatha Express via telephone after the match, Mhlomi said, “This was my first game in 2025, my first live match of the year, and I am very happy with myself and the performance I displayed.”
“I feel motivated after I was nominated last year as Best Assistant Referee of the Season. Although I didn’t receive the award, being a nominee is a blessing in disguise. I will keep my head up and keep the faith in God,” she added.
In 2024, Mhlomi was nominated as the Best Assistant Referee but did not win. She was also nominated as the best Sasol League Assistant Referee that year.
Mhlomi grew up in the rural areas of Sifonondile in Cala, playing football with young boys and participating in athletics.
