A murder case has been opened at Milnerton Police Station following a fatal shooting on Racecourse Road, Milnerton, last night (Thursday 9 April) at approximately 22:00.

According to provincial police spokesperson Thembakazi Mpendukana, officers responded to a complaint of murder and, on arrival, found a 60-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was declared dead on the scene.

Police confirmed the motive for the shooting was still unknown, with the investigation ongoing and no arrests made at this stage.

The incident occurred close to Medi-Clinic Milnerton, where witnesses reported scenes of panic as shots were fired and the public scattered for safety.

Public shocked

An eyewitness told TygerBurger: “We were just outside when we heard the gunshots. People immediately started running in every direction. It was extremely frightening and happened so suddenly. There was panic everywhere near Medi-Clinic. We saw people scattering and cars stopping in the road. It felt unsafe within seconds, and no-one knew what was going on.”

Police investigation continues

Authorities said the motive for the shooting remained unknown and no arrests had been made. Investigations were ongoing as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
