Cape Town Opera (CTO) is urging experienced mezzo-soprano and baritone singers to apply for permanent positions in its Vocal Ensemble before the deadline this Friday, 18 September.

The process begins with video submissions, followed by in-person auditions for invited candidates. Feedback will be provided by Monday 5 October.

Award-winning ensemble

The Vocal Ensemble won Chorus of the Year at the 2013 International Opera Awards and performs repertoire ranging from opera and traditional hymns to jazz and spirituals.

The ensemble maintains a busy schedule, performing on stages in and around Cape Town and internationally, with a Porgy & Bess tour currently under way in several European cities.

How to apply

Applicants should submit recently recorded videos of two contrasting arias from the standard operatic repertoire, preferably with accompaniment. All videos must be in landscape orientation.

Auditions are by invitation only, with no walk-ins. Cape Town Opera is based in Cape Town and cannot provide flights or accommodation. Candidates invited to the in-person rounds will be responsible for their own travel and related expenses.

All personal information will be kept strictly confidential and used solely for audition and administrative purposes. The decision of the audition panel is final.
