Woodlands Dairy endorsed International Coastal Clean-up Day (ICCD) by getting to work on the beaches of Cape St Francis.

Mandla Charlie, of Woodlands Dairy, said, “Eighteen people, including Woodlands Dairy and Impact Studio employees, as well as the St Francis Bay Fire Department, assisted with the beach clean-up to reduce litter, protect our ocean and raise awareness about litter and plastic pollution.

“The day is celebrated on September 18, but due to inclement weather, we could only do so five days later.”

Charlie added that litter was still a huge issue in our country.

“While cleaning the beach, we picked up plastic bags, bottles, and straws. We need to educate people on the dangers of plastic and raise awareness.

“It’s a reality we all need to face together. Plastic is definitely not fantastic!” he concluded.

Woodlands Dairy recently installed a reverse vending machine (RVM) in St Francis as part of its commitment to recycling and reducing its impact on the environment. Consumers are able to return empty containers such as milk cartons for recycling and receive a small reward, which can be accrued in an in-app e-wallet.
