Passionate local Jeffreys Bay business owners are coming together as a team to partake in a year-long journey, walking alongside one exceptionally lucky lady – the winner of a makeover with a grand total value estimated at around R110 000!
“Our heartfelt makeover is more than just a before-and-after, it takes a holistic approach in which our sponsors want to walk alongside our winner as she makes healthy improvements in all facets of her life, including accepting and uplifting herself on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level,” says Yolandi Howell, skin therapist at Aqua Spa in Jeffreys Bay.
After more than a 1 000 entries, 15 finalists were randomly selected to submit a short video explaining why they should be chosen, and after viewing all of the entries, each of the 15 sponsors was allowed one vote, and a winner of the R110 000 meaningful makeover was selected.
The lucky lady who was chosen as the winner is 32-year-old Bronwyn Ridgway, from Jeffreys Bay. The sponsors of the prizes have already been in contact with Ridgway, and are all excited to begin this journey.
“We are incredibly grateful to all the semi-finalists who submitted videos for the competition. With so many amazing, inspiring women, the decision was incredibly difficult. However, we are confident that we have found the perfect match and are excited to start this journey with her,” says Howell.
“What an honour to be part of this dream team of meaningful collaborators! When we were approached to be part of this beautiful gift, we instantaneously agreed to come on board. All ladies deserve a meaningful makeover and that was one of the main reasons we agreed. We are so excited to share in this journey with Bronwyn,” said Eidie van Rensburg of Rieg & AD Photography.
Ridgway’s heart skipped a beat when she was notified as a finalist, and after submitting her heartfelt video she was voted as the overall favourite and named the makeover winner.
After being asked how she felt after receiving the call informing her that she had won, Ridgway said that tears were rolling down her face.
“This was one gift that I did not expect. I could not believe that a group of amazing people could choose me to uplift. The rest of the day was spent in almost constant tears of joy and disbelief at the same time. Wow, that feeling of being seen and acknowledged and chosen is worth a thousand words.”
The excitement is evident and Ridgway knows that this experience of a lifetime is not to be taken lightly.
“I want to take the expertise of each sponsor to heart. I want this experience to build a solid foundation for me to build on and just be better each day. This amazing group of people has taken the time (and money) to improve a woman’s life, inside and out. Wow. I don’t want this to go to waste,” said Ridgway.
“As I mentioned, this is building a foundation. Feel better and rediscover that zest for life. This is an opportunity to fan that flame within, and maybe one day I can share that with someone else too. I am so very excited. I feel like a giddy little girl full of hope!

The sponsors involved in this competition are all experts in their individual fields and the winner will be in the hands of well-trained and equipped professionals, to support her along this incredible journey.
This makeover will include elements of skin treatments and products, hair styling, wardrobe updates, permanent makeup as well as makeup for all photoshoots, teeth whitening, authentic self-discovery, body contouring and eye tests. The winner will also have the help of a bio-kineticist and a dietician. This whole process will be documented by photographers with a celebration shoot at the end of the journey.
