EXPERIENCE excellent food,
crashing waves an unforgettable views – after hundred spiral stairs or more. Add to that a unique boutique hotel with two suites and decor dating back to when lighthouse keepers still guided ships safely to port.

This is the newly restored Seal Point Lighthouse in Cape St Francis – the tallest masonry tower (28m from the ground to the balcony) on the South African coast and one of the oldest (working) lighthouses in South Africa of which the lamp was first lit in November 1876.

After being closed for more than 10 years, the lighthouse, which was declared a national monument in May 1984, is once again open to the public from 10:00 to 15:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.

The entry fee is R50 per person. All proceeds are donated to the Talhado Children’s Haven in St Francis Bay.

The lighthouse was, furthermore, transformed into a luxury boutique hotel, boasting two unique suites with furniture and memorabilia from former local lighthouse keepers.

  • Nevermind, is located next to the lighthouse and focuseson quality food that is locally sourced where possible and mostly cooked on an open fire. There is also a mouth-watering bakery on site.
