Two murder accused sentenced 20 years for fatal stabbing in Humansdorp

On March 22, almost five years later, justice was finally meted out to two murder accused when they were sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for the fatal stabbing of Joey Williams (45) at the Old Caravan Park in Humansdorp in July 2018. 

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, on July 15, 2018, at about 09:10, Williams was stabbed multiple times at the Old Caravan Park. 

She said two days later, three suspects were arrested in the vicinity and charged with murder. 

Naidu further said as the investigation unfolded, one suspect was released. 

She said on March 22, Vivian Hendricks (32) and Keanen Stefaans (27) were convicted in the Humansdorp Regional Court for murder and each sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.  

“The motive is suspected to be robbery,” said Naidu.  

Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Maj Gen Zolani Xawuka commended the investigating team for ensuring a lengthy sentence against both accused.
