On March 22, almost five years after the crime, justice was finally meted out to two murder accused when they were sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for the fatal stabbing of Joey Williams (45) at the Old Caravan Park in Humansdorp in July 2018.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, at about 09:10 on that date, Williams was stabbed multiple times at the Old Caravan Park.

Two days later, three suspects were arrested in the vicinity and charged with murder. Naidu said one suspect was later released, as the investigation unfolded.

She said that on March 22 this year, Vivian Hendricks (32) and Keanen Stefaans (27) were convicted in the Humansdorp Regional Court for murder, and each sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment.

“The motive is suspected to have been robbery,” said Naidu.

Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Major General Zolani Xawuka, commended the investigating team for ensuring a lengthy sentence against both accused.
