Thornhill police are seeking community assistance in identifying an unknown male whose body washed ashore today, November 20, between the Gamtoos and the Van Staden’s river mouth.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the decomposed body was allegedly discovered by an angler fishing at the river.
“The race and age could not be determined. However, an inquest docket has been opened for investigation,” said Naidu.
Police are appealing to anyone who can assist in identifying the body or may know of anyone who may have drowned or gone missing recently, to contact SAPS Thornhill Detective Warrant Officer Heinrich Rheeder at 083 682 0386.
