For the third year in a row, Jeffreys Bay will host the Sunrise to Sunset 100km women’s walk. With its origin in Magaliesberg, the Sunrise to Sunset 100km walk is a favoured adventure among novices and professionals alike.

Started by Alna van der Walt, Louise Kemp and Mia Gain, this trio has a passion for community upliftment, and they seek to create an event that inspires and connects women from all walks of life.

The event is described as a women’s only endurance event that is a not a race, but a safe space to enable 20 to 65-year-olds to achieve and complete 100km over four days.

This is a bucket list event that promotes tourism and fitness, as well as giving women the opportunity to be out in nature and making lifelong friends in a safe and controlled environment.

Taking place on September 18 to 21, this walking excursion will host 50 walkers from across the country, who will descend on Jeffreys Bay to fulfil their 100km by partaking in a daily 25km walk on carefully curated routes, to four beautiful spots in the municipal area.

The walkers will have everything catered for, including a stay in the lovely Seashells hotel, meals and transport, as well as access to massage treatments and other amenities.

The route will pass through various towns and areas, like Jeffreys Bay, Paradise Beach, Kabeljous reserve, Gamtoos, Lombardini, St Francis and between.

The organisers of this event have spent time meticulously working out the daily routes, and the walkers will see many special sites, and experience the most beautiful parts of the area, all while walking for local charities.

According to the organisers, this is an incredible opportunity for the area and the community has welcomed them with open arms. Various businesses and organisations have seized this opportunity to be involved in this 100km walk, by giving special rates, sponsoring, and even adding to the gift bags.

The hope is that this will become an institution in the area, with the size of the group growing each year.

The organisers would like to extend their immense gratitude to all involved.
