LEADING social media law expert, Emma Sadleir, will present a talk on the legal implications of social media at St Francis Links at 18:00 on Thursday, October 4.

The talk is presented by St Francis College.

Sadleir is South Africa’s leading expert on social media law and her talk will centre on the responsible use and online safety of social media and the legal implications for children, including hate speech, cyberbullying, harassment, sexting and pornography offences.

The company Sadleir founded four years ago, the Digital Law Company, specialises in educating and advising corporates, employees, schools, pa-rents, teachers, and universities on the legal, disciplinary and reputational risks of social media.

Much of her work involves creating social media strategies and policies for corporates and schools. Emma was an anchor for the Oscar Pistorius Trial: A Carte Blanche Channel where, for the duration of the evidence in the trial, she hosted a programme discussing social media, the law and court proceedings.
