While people walk through multiple shops searching for the perfect gift this Christmas season, the Marina Martinique’s Homeowners’ Association (HOA) is encouraging people to consider gifting their loved ones a ticket to their second Crú du Marina, a wine-tasting event aimed at raising much-needed funding for two local charities.
This is similar to the wine-tasting event held on April 15, which was a great success and led to the HOA raising R42 000 for two local charities – JBay Recycling Project and the JBay Animal Rescue Sanctuary, on February 3 next year visitors will be transported by boat to 14 wine farms along the waterways of Marina Martinique where homeowners will open the doors to their beautiful homes for wine tasting.
As previously reported by Kouga Express, project manager, Roel Bester, said the HOA believes in giving back to the community through financial support, volunteerism, and security programmes, and strives to contribute to the well-being of neighbouring communities and selected charities.
He further said that the aim of the wine-tasting event was to showcase the beautiful Marina Martinique lifestyle, and most importantly donate all proceeds collected from the ticket sales to two deserving charities.
To increase the amount raised, Bester said that tickets cost R425 per person, with the event being open to homeowners and the public.
“Like last year we will stick to 400 tickets,” said Bester.
He further said that this year they have included three additional wine farms, and will have more food trucks at the starting point and along the tasting route.
Bester said that ticketholders must register upon arrival at the entrance of Wacky Waterpark at 09:30 on February 3, and would be provided with a wine-tasting kit which includes a branded wine glass, lanyard, glass holder and a map of the wine farms.
He said that once guests have registered, the first barge will depart at 10:00 and the event will end at 17:00 at Wacky Waterpark.
Bester said they have opened ticket sales for the event much earlier, in the hope that people will consider gifting their loved ones with tickets over the holiday season.
“We hope that our ticket sales will increase with people buying tickets as a Christmas gift to share with family and friends,” said Bester.
