OVER 150 top-class surfers from across South Africa will descend on Seal Point in Cape St Francis for the adrenaline-packed SA Longboarding Champs set to take place from April 27 to May 1.

With a multitude of divisions; including men, women, masters, grand masters and veterans, the competition will be fierce – with the Western Province defending their 2018 winning title.

The Eastern Cape Longboarding team will go all out to claim victory with 2018 World Longboarding Champion and Jeffreys Bay surfer, Steven Sawyer who already competed on the World Surf League Longboarding Tour, on their side.

This goofy-footed surfer who calls Supertubes his home break, is a multi-talented surfer – equally adept at surfing on a short board, with a good track record of big results in that division.

In 2016 Sawyer won the Corona JBay Open trials events -known as the JBU Supertrial – and secured a wildcard into the main event.

Currently in Australia for the start of the tour and some media commitments, Sawyer is also an accomplished musician and has a fan base that enjoys watching him play around the world.

Last year he was one of the musicians who played at the Live In The Park free sessions at the Corona JBay Open, along with an array of some of the best musicians in the country.
