Following the release of his single, Love Story, a year ago, Jeffreys Bay rapper, Teboho Sokopo, recently released a second, Respect, which will feature on his highly-anticipated second mixtape expected to be released later this year.

As previously reported by Kouga Express, Sokopo, better known by his stage name, Keemo Bankz, began his career as a full-time rapper in 2011, and has since released multiple singles and extended plays (EPs).

In 2021 he released his first mixtape, Fresh Prince of JBay, which was streamed a million times in the first year.

After the success of this mixtape, Sokopo decided to take a two-year break from the music industry.

Finally, in April last year he made his comeback, with his single titled Love Story, a tale about the support he received from his partner, Spokazi Mtuzula, who constantly motivated him while he was going through a tough time.

As a follow-up to Love Story, on March 8 Sokopo released Respect, which features local rapper,Luvuyo Mbonda, better known as YungLufta.

“My new track showcases me revisiting my past, during a time when I experienced hardships while staying in Jeffreys Bay and St Francis Bay. I experienced these trials, and survived all of them during the start of my career as a rapper,” said Sokopo.

He said that after the success of his debut mixtape, Fresh Prince of JBay, he received a great deal of criticism within the music industry.

Sokopo said that his latest song focuses on respect within the industry, especially showing respect towards his music.

Respect is available for streaming, and can be streamed on all digital streaming platforms,” said Sokopo.

He said that Respect serves as a follow up to Love Story, and will feature on his mixtape The Recovery, which is expected to be released later this year.

Sokopo said that since he is in the process of recovering from his previous experiences, his mixtape, The Recovery, will offer his fans a glimpse into this process.

Thankfully, he said that while continuing to pray for recovery, God has been with him throughout the turbulent process he has faced.

“The mixtape will showcase a wide variety of emotions through each song, as I have experienced both wins and losses throughout my lifetime,” said Sokopo.
