HUMANSDORP – Bradley Mafomi (20) has been sentenced by the Humansdorp Regional Court on 15 May 2026 to five years direct imprisonment for robbery with a weapon other than a firearm, and 15 years direct imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, following two violent robberies targeting female victims in the Humansdorp area.
He was further declared unfit to possess a firearm.
According to police spokesperson Captain Marius McCarthy, in the first incident, the 18-year-old victim was walking with friends when the accused approached them with a knife, searched through their pockets, and took their phones.
McCarthy said the accused was arrested on 12 September 2025 and made his first appearance in court on 2 October 2025.
He was released on bail on 25 October 2025, but four days later committed another robbery, forcibly taking the cellphone of a 26-year-old woman in Humansdorp.
“He was arrested the following day and remained in custody until the conclusion of the trial and sentencing on 15 May 2026,” said McCarthy.
The Acting Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Brigadier Asogran Naidoo, praised the work of the investigating officers.
“This 15-year direct imprisonment sentence is a testament to the relentless efforts of our investigating officers, who built airtight cases,” said Naidoo.
“By taking this violent individual off the streets without the option of a fine or a suspended sentence, we have made our community safer today.”
