Less than one week after being elected as the Executive Mayor of Sarah Baartman District Municipality, Councillor Mzimkhulu Njadayi passed away yesterday December 1, after the conclusion of the mayoral committee meeting.
Municipal manager Ted Pillay said it was with profound sadness and shock that they informed the public of the sudden passing of newly elected mayor of the Sarah Baartman District Municipality, Councillor Mzimkhulu Njadayi.
Pillay said after the conclusion of the mayoral committee meeting at 13:30 yesterday, Njadayi invited the councillors to have a look at a portion of the Sarah Baartman District municipal building.
He said while walking through the building with his team, Njadayi collapsed at 14:30.
“On behalf of the Sarah Baartman District Municipality, we send our condolences to the Njadayi family, his colleagues in the African National Congress (ANC) and all political leaders across the length and breadth of this country,” said Pillay.
He said further details will be released after consultation with the family.
