WARD 1 in Kouga now boasts its own dedicated Ward Office – a first for Kouga Municipality.
Renovated at a cost of close to R272 000, the office, situated at 2332 Geelbek Street in Sea Vista, St Francis Bay, was officially handed over to Ward 1 councillor, Nozuko Ntshota, earlier this month during an official ceremony. Renovations included, but are not limited to, fencing, revamping of the kitchen, painting, laminating and tiling.
Kouga Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks, said that the councillor had not had a suitable office to operate from for over a year, hence the sourcing of a new building and the repairs thereof.
“We, as a municipality, are so proud that we can now offer this platform to communities to engage in a professional manner with their ward councillor,” said Hendricks. “Not only does it bring service delivery close to home, but it also offers easier access to the ward councillor. It furthermore acts as a central point for wardbased queries and services. It is my hope that this serves as a tangible example to everyone in the community that this is a municipality that cares. We care for all residents in terms of their constitutional right to engage with local government on matters that concern them.”
Hendricks thanked Kouga speaker, Brenton Williams, and the administration, for making this possible.
The Ward Office serves residents of Sea Vista, Oyster Bay, Umzamowethu, Lower Golf Course, Leeubos and surrounding farms.
