THE Kou-Kamma Municipality announced the appointment of Similo Johnson Dayi as the new Municipal Manager, effective December 2.

Dayi is well-acquainted with local government and the position, having served as the Municipal Manager from 2001 to 2016 at the former Tsolwana Local Municipality following the merger of five transitional councils.He brings over 20 years of local government experience to the Kou-Kamma Municipality.

Kou-Kamma Municipality Mayor Samuel Vuso stated that Dayi’s appointment confirms the Municipality’s transition out of Section 154.

Dayi addressed the management, expressing his commitment to being a team player.

He emphasised his intention to collaborate with everyone to transform the municipality and enhance its revenue collection, ultimately leading to improved service delivery.

At the time of his appointment, he served as the Director of Corporate Services at Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality. He holds a BPA Honours degree from the University of Stellenbosch, along with additional qualifications in Municipal Finance and Governance.
