Dear Editor
Behind every success story lies a figure of guidance, discipline and inspiration. For me, that figure has always been my uncle and mentor, Jacobus Jantjes.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to my uncle, whose guidance, support and encouragement have been instrumental in shaping my journey in the security industry.
Recently, a story was published in the Kouga Express highlighting my training, development and achievements as a security officer.
It was an incredible moment of pride for my family and me, but I know that none of it would have been possible without the influence and mentorship of my uncle, who has played a major role in my growth, both professionally and personally.
From the very beginning of my training in Cape Town, Uncle Jacobus has been a pillar of strength and wisdom. He has always believed in me, even at times when I doubted myself.
His experience in the industry and his commitment to excellence have inspired me to follow the same path of discipline, honesty and dedication.
There were many challenges along the way: long hours, difficult tests, and moments when I felt uncertain about the future, but through it all, my uncle was there – offering advice, encouragement and faith in my potential.
His words always reminded me that every obstacle is an opportunity to grow stronger.
I would also like to thank Kouga Express for featuring my story.
It is an honour to have my journey shared publicly, and I deeply appreciate the recognition of the hard work and dedication that goes into being a security professional.
The Kouga Express gives people like me the opportunity to inspire others and to highlight the importance of mentorship, training and perseverance.
At this time of thanksgiving, my heart is full of gratitude.
To my uncle, my mentor, I will always be grateful for the role you’ve played in my life and career, and to the publication that helped tell my story – thank you for believing in me and for walking this path of growth and success alongside me.
With sincere appreciation.
Jonathan Jantjies
