DESPATCH – Following the fatal shooting of a Despatch woman (36) outside her home, SAPS Despatch have also launched a separate investigation into the double murder of two men that occurred the following day in Despatch, and are appealing to anyone with information to contact the investigating officer.

According to SAPS spokesperson Captain André Beetge, it is alleged that on 25 May, at about 21:10, SAPS Despatch was alerted to a shooting incident in Khozi Street, Khayamnandi, Despatch.

“Upon arrival, the bodies of Xabise Mfengu (29) and Phathuxolo Mtalana (33) were found inside a house in Khozi Street with gunshot wounds to their heads and upper bodies,” he said.

Beetge added that a 27-year-old female victim was also wounded in her hand during the shooting.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, as are the suspects.

He stated that two murder cases have been opened and are being investigated by SAPS Despatch.
