JUST more than 1 700 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the Sarah Baartman District to date.
According to stats released by the Department of Health this week, 90% of the 1701 cases were confirmed over the past five weeks.
The most infections to date have been in the Sundays River Valley region (440), followed by Kouga (422) and Makana (387). Ndlambe has had 187 positive cases, Dr Beyers Naude 141, Blue Crane 106 and Koukamma 18.
The total number of active cases in Kouga stood at 227 on July 5 and 13 in Koukamma, while the number of recoveries stood at 191 and 5 respectively. Four deaths have also been recorded in Kouga.
The distribution of active cases per town in the Kouga region was as follows: Humansdorp 72, Patensie 64, Jeffreys Bay 46, Hankey 36, Loerie 6, St Francis Bay 2 and Thornhill 1.
The distribution of active cases per town in the Koukamma region was as follows: Kareedouw 7, Joubertina 2, Storms River 2, Coldstream 1 and Tsitsikamma 1.
