KOUGA’S new water mascot was officially named “Splash” at the KIA Makietie Jeffreysbaai in September.
The cute blue drop will be the face of Kouga’s efforts to curb water wastage.
Splash made her public debut in Stofwolk when the Johannesburg NPO, Ashraful Uloom, delivered 25 000 litres of bottled water to the community.
It was the third big donation to be dropped off at Hankey and Patensie, with the Water Warriors and Dischem Cape Town also blessing the towns with bottled water.
Mayor Horatio Hendricks said the municipality had also embarked on school campaigns and mall activations to raise awareness of ways in which everyone can help to save water.
Splash also mingled with visitors at the Town of the Year Makietie, where the municipality hosted a colouring-in corner for children, focused on teaching the little ones how to save water.
A door-to-door campaign was also conducted at Hankey and Patensie to identify and repair leaks while sharing water-saving tips with communities.
