OFF the beaten track, obstacles, mud pools and much more

Boasting a new 4×4 track, the picturesque Lombardini Game Farm, situated between Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp in the Kouga region, is set to host an unforgettable family-friendly Kouga Rhino 4×4 Challenge on December 22 and 23 – all for a good cause.

This is in celebration of the Kouga Rhino Sanctuary situated on the game farm, not only raising much-needed funds but also creating awareness about the critical conservation of rhinos.

The unique track, meandering through the game reserve with wild animals lazily grazing, has been a long-time dream of owners, Johan Lottering and Susan Lottering.

Drivers will follow a rugged trail through the game reserve – past game and over hills.

The route will also offer drivers treacherous obstacles to test both vehicle and driver. This is not for the faint-hearted.

The experienced team from Off Road Solutions in Humansdorp is one of the partners of the event and will marshall and guide drivers at more difficult technical areas.

Even more fun

But, the fun does not stop at the rugged gravel road.

An adrenaline-packed 3.5km Rhino Dash Trail Run among free roaming wild animals will see runners – young and old – take to the jeep track at 08:00 on Thursday, December 22.

The entry fee is R75 per adult and includes entry to the festivities.

There will also be guided game walks in the reserve from R100 (bookings are essential) – with the promise of beautiful photos, abundant birdlife and the possibility of encountering wild animals.

Those who want to cool off, can swim in the private dam or be part of the big float on the dam. Just pack your floaties and come splash.

There will, furthermore, be various stalls, a motor expo and a beer garden. A lamb on the spit will close the event on a high note under the African sky.
