At just 16, Amber Jansen, who is from Jeffreys Bay and a Grade 11 student at Nico Malan High School in Humansdorp, is already making waves in the world of modelling and pageantry.

Her journey began two-and-a-half years ago when her father enrolled her in a local modelling school, igniting her lifelong dream to grace the catwalks and compete in pageants.

Joining Ace Models 18 months ago, Jansen’s dedication and talent quickly earned her recognition. In the internal Ace Models awards last year, she won titles such as Miss Catwalk 2023, Miss Pageant Walk 2023, and Miss Committed 2023.

In December she took home another crown, when she was named Miss Jeffrey’s Bay Summer Fun 2023.

Currently her eyes are set on the prestigious Miss Teen World South Africa crown. For her, it’s not just about winning; it’s also about using the platform for positive impact.

“I want to use any platform that I am graced with for positive influence and change,” she emphasises.

The road to Miss Teen World is not just about glamour and beauty. Jansen, alongside her brother Joshua, actively participates in charity initiatives through Ace Models. Recently they raised an impressive R23 100 for the Wave Point Foundation, an organisation close to their hearts. Their efforts aim at providing educational assistance, including specialist support for dyslexia and occupational therapy, to children in under-developed communities

With the support of her family, community, and her own unwavering determination, Jansen is now a finalist in Miss Teen World South Africa 2024. The grand finale is scheduled for July 20 in Pretoria, and if she is placed in the top 5 for Miss Teen World South Africa, she will compete internationally later this year.

Until then it’s a whirlwind of practice, preparation, and anticipation, as Amber gears up to represent her town on the national stage.
