The u/12 and u/18 junior chess tournament which was hosted by the Douglas Matsha People’s Association (Domapa) at the Humansdorp Library on October 2 was a great success.
The number of entrants increased from seven at the previous event, held in July, to 19 participants at the most recent event.
The standard of the chess tournament had also improved as more experienced players joined, as well as world-rated junior player, Mukhethwa Munyai.
As part of the tournament all participants were given prizes, while the participants who answered the chess-related questions correctly received additional prizes.
Ahead of the New Yyear, Domapa will release an activity-rich calendar for 2024 which will include chess and many other activities, such as modelling and table tennis.
Even though Domapa is based in Kwa-Nomzamo, the organisation, which was established earlier this year, caters for all nations, genders, and ages with some of their chess games held at the Humansdorp Library.

Top chess player Zolani Sibengile is available to teach adults and children the game of chess. He is flexible and is based at the Humansdorp Library.
