RESIDENTS of Amala care facility in Oribi Street were treated with an Easter outreach by learners from Global Leadership Academy.
Owing to COVID-19 regulations, the number of learners allowed to enter the facility was limited and learners were not able to interact with the residents for their safety.
Despite these restrictions, the Grade 8 learners donated lovely cakes, handmade cookies and Easter bunny presents to the home, which were distributed by the staff of the care home.
A few Grade 10 learners and teachers went to Amala on April 1, dropping off the treats collected by the Grade 8s and singing a few songs to brighten their day.
The residents cheerfully clapped and sang along to the Al Debbo hit from back in their day, Hasie, Hoekom is Jou Stert so Kort?
Grade 8 register teacher, Donovan Young, said, “It is imperative that our learners learn the importance of giving back to their community.
“This is why we encourage outreaches whenever possible. We are very proud of our learners.”
