THE Media and Communication Unit in the Office of the Deputy Municipal Manager at Kouga Local Municipality, in partnership with LC Event Services, is set to hold a fun and action-packed fundraising event to support a less-fortunate school in the Kouga region.
“Our mission is to equip the school, still to be determined, with essential tools such as a camera and laptop, to empower them to start their own school newsletter,” said Kouga Media and Communication Manager, Monique Basson. “As part of our dedication to community development, the municipality’s support will extend beyond just providing equipment. We plan to offer photography and writing lessons, helping the students develop effective communication skills.
“Additionally, we will assist them with the layout and printing of their quarterly newsletter.”
To raise funds for this community initiative, the municipality will host a fun-filled bowls event on June 20, rescheduled from June 6 due to the recent rain. The evening will brim with camaraderie and goodwill, featuring a game of bowls and exciting giveaways.
“We are also excited to announce that Kouga Express, the leading community newspaper in the area, will be joining us at the event,” said Basson.
“In addition to competing, they will provide a live broadcast of the event.
“We invite you to form a team of four players at a cost of R1 000, which includes a boerewors roll. Your support will not only contribute to the success of our initiative, but also have a lasting impact on the educational opportunities and creative expression of the learners at this less-fortunate school.”
