KOUGA – Kouga Local Municipality has launched a new Jobseeker Opportunities Database to help connect local residents with future internships, learnerships, Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) projects, training initiatives and other temporary employment opportunities offered by the municipality.
The free online platform is designed to make it easier for jobseekers living within the Kouga municipal area to register their details for future opportunities.
Residents can complete the registration process without creating an account or remembering a password, making the system simple, accessible and user-friendly.
Kouga Executive Mayor Hattingh Bornman said the new database forms part of the municipality’s ongoing commitment to improving access to skills development and employment opportunities while ensuring a fair and transparent process.
“One of the greatest challenges facing our communities is unemployment. While the municipality cannot guarantee employment for every resident, we can create systems that ensure opportunities are advertised fairly and that local talent can be identified quickly when programmes become available,” said Bornman.
Residents who register can submit their personal information, educational qualifications, work experience, skills, languages and supporting documents for inclusion in the municipality’s secure database.
The municipality may use the information to identify and contact suitable candidates for internships, learnerships, EPWP projects, training programmes and other qualifying opportunities.
Importantly, all information submitted through the portal is stored securely and is not publicly visible.
Access is restricted to authorised municipal officials responsible for administering these programmes.
Bornman emphasised that protecting residents’ personal information remains a priority.
“Residents can register with confidence, knowing that their information will be handled securely and will only be accessed by authorised municipal officials for legitimate municipal recruitment and development programmes,” said Bornman.
To complete the registration, residents should have the following information readily available:
• South African ID or passport details.· Mobile number, email address and residential address within the Kouga municipal area;
• Highest school grade and any qualifications obtained;
• Skills, languages and employment history;
• Driver’s licence information and availability, where applicable;
• A curriculum vitae (CV) and supporting documents, if requested.
The registration process has been designed to be straightforward.
First, applicants should prepare all their personal, educational and employment information.
They can then complete the online form, ensuring that all the information is accurate and selecting the types of opportunities that interest them.
Applicants must then provide consent for Kouga Local Municipality to securely store their information and contact them should suitable programmes become available.
Once registered, residents are encouraged to keep their registration reference number and notify the municipality whenever their contact details or other information change.
Bornman reminded residents that joining the database does not constitute an application for a specific vacancy and does not guarantee employment or selection.
“The database serves as a register of local talent that enables the municipality to identify potential candidates more efficiently when opportunities arise. We encourage all eligible jobseekers to register and to keep their information up to date so they can be considered for future programmes,” said Bornman.
