In a groundbreaking moment for the sport of kneeboard surfing, the iconic ‘surfing mecca’ of Jeffreys Bay is set to host the Cine FX Kneeboard Surfing World Titles 2024, sanctioned by Surfing South Africa, at Lower Point from August 17 to 24. The last time South Africa hosted a world kneeboarding championship was in Durban in 1993, a much smaller event involving only South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. Kneeboarding, a distinctive form of surfing, involves riding waves on a specialised board while kneeling. The reigning World Title holders are Linda Ash (SA) and Tom Gray (SA, pictured).
