After a two-year break from the music industry, Jeffreys Bay rapper, Teboho Sokopo, is back with his latest single, Love Story, which has been streamed over 60 000 times since its release in April.

As previously reported by, Kouga Express, Sokopo, better known by his stage name, Keemo Bankz, began his career as a full-time rapper in 2011 and used his bedroom to record his first song,?Money Bag, which he released on various digital platforms in 2017.

Since then, he released multiple singles and extended plays (EPs) from 2018 to 2020. In 2021 he released his first album, Fresh Prince of JBay, which was streamed a million times in the first year.

After the success of this album, Sokopo decided to take a two-year break from the music industry to deal with a personal issue.

“I had a lot on my plate at the time, and I experienced many tough and lonely moments. I decided to take a break from creating music, because even if I had tried I would not have been able to focus on music at the time,” said Sokopo.

Thankfully his partner, Spokazi Mtuzula, remained by his side throughout his tough experience and continuously reminded him about his musical talent.

“Even when I found it hard to believe at the time, my partner reminded me that I am a great rapper, and that people need to hear my music. I am grateful that she supported me,” said Sokopo.

Inspired by his partner’s unwavering support, he decided to write a song for her based on their love story which was released on all digital streaming platforms in April.

Love Story, Sokopo’s first single in two years, was produced by an American-based production company, Wendingo, and Jeffreys Bay-based producer, Khayalethu Moshani – better known as Khasta Gee, and by Sokopo using the production pseudonym T-Real.

To his surprise, since the song’s release on April 27, it was streamed at least 40 000 times in the first month and more than 60 000 times to date.

To continue connecting with his listeners, Sokopo plans to co-host a new podcast, The Powa Hause, alongside co-host, Onika Mtuzula.

“The audio podcast will be made available on all digital podcast platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcast and iHeart Radio later this year,” said Sokopo.
