The father, mother and half-brother of a 17-year-old girl from the Jeffreys Bay region who was allegedly raped and sexually groomed by the two men, briefly appeared in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on October 19, where the case was postponed to January 16, 2023, for further investigation.  

As previously reported by the Kouga Express, the father and his stepson were arrested early in September after his teenage daughter opened a case against the two at Jeffreys Bay Police Station in August this year. 

The mother was arrested on September 15, on charges of Accessory after the fact, obstruction and defeating the ends of justice and failure to report sexual violation of children (Act 32 Sec 54 of 2007)

According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Luxolo Tyali, the three accused appeared in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on October 19, and their case was postponed to January 16, 2023, for further investigation. 

“The matter was remanded for further investigation and instructions by the Director of Public Prosecutions to January 16,” said Tyali.
