Despite not being able to visit the Jeffreys Bay Zebra Lodge as they had planned, the Nation Builders Prophetic Apostolic Movement (NBPAM) were able to arrange a fun-filled day outdoors for their elderly members where they visited Fountains Mall and had a lovely braai at the Jeffreys Bay Caravan Park.
Founder of NBPAM, Pastor Ashwell Goliath, his wife, Nicolette, and the organisation’s committee members, planned to take the elderly members from Humansdorp on an excursion to the Jeffreys Bay Zebra Lodge on April 27.
Unfortunately, since they were not able to raise enough funds for the day trip, they had to quickly decide on a new plan since they were looking forward to taking the elderly on an exciting excursion.
Thankfully, after receiving a generous donation from Kekkel en Kraai and Shoprite in Humansdorp, they were able to arrange a special day for 24 of their elderly members on May 4.
Goliath said that they started off the eventful day with breakfast at Wimpy at Fountains Mall and then bought braai supplies at Pick ’n Pay and Woolworths.
While walking through the mall he said that they were surprised when the owner of Gabriël Jewellers, Gabriël van Eeden, invited them into his store where he handed out gifts to the elderly members.
“While at Gabriël Jewellers, our elderly members were so surprised when they were given rings, watches, and earrings. You could see by their facial expressions that they were so surprised and excited,” said Goliath.
He said that they then sang two songs while at the store and left the mall to travel to the Jeffreys Bay Caravan Park where lunch was prepared and served.
Goliath said that they served delicious braai meals and played fun games throughout the day.
“Our elderly members were overwhelmed with so much joy and to see the excitement on their faces brought so much fulfilment in our hearts as the staff,” said Goliath.
He said that they were very thankful for the funding they received which allowed them to arrange a fun excursion for their members.
In addition to the funding they received from the two sponsors, Goliath said that Kekkel en Kraai in Humansdorp had also committed to contributing to the organization’s nutritious meals at least once a month.
He said they prepare meals for the elderly at his home which they then transport to the library in Humansdorp, where they host their weekly meetings.
Goliath said that they are hopeful that other stakeholders will consider contributing to their organization.
“We thank God for opening up the door for our service centre and for all the donations we have received,” said Goliath.
Since they have many challenges and are in need of various supplies, he said that they would be hosting a grocery bingo on July 22, at the Kate van der Merwe Crèche.
Each ticket costs R80 and can be purchased from Goliath, his wife Nicolette, or at the library in Humansdorp.
Goliath said that the organisation needs cutlery, cooking equipment, fridges and first aid kits among other items.
