In a bid to assist underprivileged learners at Mzingisi Primary School in Humansdorp and Makukhanye Primary School in Jeffreys Bay with much-needed school shoes, the Kouga Local Football Association will host a “Football Frenzy” fundraising event on October 19 at the Humansdorp Country Club Field.
Mongezi Khatshiwe, Chairperson of Kouga Local Football Association, highlighted the plight of underprivileged learners at Mzingisi Primary and Makukhanye Primary, who lack essential school shoes.
Driven by a commitment to community welfare, he said that the association is arranging a charity event to raise funds to provide vital footwear for these learners.
The charity event will see six soccer teams compete at the Football Frenzy event from 10:00 on October 19.
Khatshiwe said that participating teams in the Football Frenzy charity event will be required to pay a registration fee of R300 and an additional R500 to contribute towards a braai after the soccer games have concluded at 17:00.
Spectators are also invited to attend, with entrance fees set at R5 per person and R10 per vehicle.
The teams competing include VW Masters, SAFA Kouga Masters, Kouga Orlando Pirates Branch, Kouga Kaizer Branch, Kouga Sundowns Branch and SAPS Plett.
“The funds raised will be used to buy school shoes for the underprivileged learners and assist with prizes for the u/13 and u/15 winning teams,” said Khatshiwe.
He further said that plans are underway to establish the Football Frenzy as an annual fundraising event, ensuring continued support for underprivileged learners.
