SCRUMPTIOUSLY sweet, sticky and irresistible . . . all for a good cause.
Sink your teeth into a delicious stroopwafel – a thin waffle with a syrup in-between – every Saturday at the new Stroopwafel Shop next to Nina’s in Jeffreys Bay from 10:00 to 14:00, and help raise much-needed funds for Victory4All Projects.
This famous treat from Holland, pronounced strope-wa-fell, are handmade by the learners from the Victory4All Skills Centre in Humansdorp.
“By buying a stroopwafel from the Soete Swaan, residents are supporting the skills centre that teaches learners who have a disability or have fallen in behind in school work and life skills,” says Derk Oosterveld from Victory4All Projects.
“But the best part is, thanks to the stroopwafels, multiple teenagers have a workplace and, because of that, a better perspective on the future.”
According to Oosterveld, they have been struggling to get the recipe of the stroopwafels as perfect and flawless as possible – which they finally got right.
“During the first few weeks, if might have been possible that residents bought a packet of stroopwafels with a flaw in it.
“If that is the case, we are really sorry, and thankful at the same time, that you are supporting us. That is why you can get a stroopwafel for free at our stand this Saturday.”
