SARAH BAARTMAN DISTRICT – SAPS detectives across the Sarah Baartman District have arrested 106 suspects for various crimes during a week-long series of targeted tracing operations conducted from Monday, 12 October to Sunday, 18 October.
The majority of the suspects were apprehended for assault and domestic-violence-related cases. Most have already appeared in court, while the remaining individuals are due to make their appearances soon to face their respective charges following their apprehension.
The Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Major-General Thandiswa Kupiso, commended the detectives.
“I highly commend our detectives across the Sarah Baartman District for their outstanding commitment and tireless efforts over the past week. Tracing and apprehending 106 suspects requires meticulous planning, coordination, and dedication to ensuring that those who break the law are brought to book.
“These operations send a clear message that fleeing from justice is a temporary delay, not an escape. By tracking down these individuals and presenting them before our courts, our detective service continues to restore public confidence and strengthen the criminal justice system,” Kupiso concluded.
